Portrait of a Tibetan Woman

Living on the highest and harshest plateau on earth, Tibetans are a hardy lot. They have to be to live off such a difficult land. You can see it in this woman’s face that she has to work hard every day. We came across her as she was finishing her laundry. She had been bent over a frigid stream pounding the clothes. When I travel, I realize how spoiled I am. Even though I do have to go outside in the cold Ankara weather to put my clothes in the dryer, at least I’m not having to hang them to dry.
