We’re Trying Something New This Week

“They had ridden past the end of the world; somehow that changed everything.” ~ George R. R. Martin

We’ve been playing around with the video options on our camera and finally got around to shooting an “About Us” video. I think we could have waited for a less windy day, or opted for a different microphone. But we can only go up from here! Our travel inspiration for this week is to push past your boundaries, try something new!

We’ve been playing around with shooting video for a little while now. It was one of our New Year’s resolutions after all. I like to think we are getting better at it, but hey, we’re just starting out. It seems to me that video is a way to share the sights and sounds of different destinations and I’ve been having fun with it. Of course, it just means more equipment to carry along on our travel if we’re not careful.

I really like this quote from Game of Thrones. As travelers, we’re often riding out past the end of the world, pushing past the edges of our ever expanding comfort zone. If that doesn’t change you, I don’t know what will.

  1. Good for you guys. It does seem to be the next step, doesn’t it? I’ve been wanting to upload my audio versions of my blog posts on to YouTube, but right now, it’s not a priority.

Too bad it was so windy that day! Outside noise can make things seem a little distracting, but I suppose that’s part of the adventure, right?

    1. Lani, Yes, the wind and cars driving by were a little distracting, but we figured we’d always have that issue so we went with it. Good luck with the audio. Good idea.

  2. It is always great to try out new things – and we too would like to improve our video skills. We dabble in it, mostly live video and short ones for social media, but are still focusing on things we are best at doing (writing, photography). I think it is always good to give new things a try even if you don’t end up using them moving forward as you never know! ~ Jessica

  3. Jim and Corinne speak! It’s like when silent movie fans finally got to hear actors talk on film. Very nice. Did you have mics on you or was that all picked up by the camera’s mic? My girl is really interested in the Broadcast club at her school, and I think that filming movies might make trips more interesting for my kids.
