Taiwan Fishing Boats

After arriving in the late morning in Taipei, Taiwan, the first thing we did is go looking for a nice walk. And there’s nothing better than walking down a dock and gawking at some fishing boats. I love the blue boats with their watchful eyes on the prow. I would have loved to see the fisherman coming in with their catch, but it was too late in the day for that.

Food – Picking Tea in Taiwan

Yes, we’ve already established my love of tea and tea fields and tea pickers. Where here is another shot, this one from Taiwan. Not far from the outskirts of Taipei these tranquil hills filled with lush green tea lie waiting to be picked. The pickers were a little startled to see us piling out of our rental van to photograph them, but I think it was worth it.

Taiwan’s National Snack – the Iron Egg!

This vacuum packed bag of goodness is a common snack food or even breakfast food for the Taiwanese.  When we were there, we saw full stores dedicated to them.  I’m sure the different colored packages means they must have different flavors, but I don’t read or speak Chinese so just don’t know.  The shops would hand them out as samples and that’s how we tried them.  I have to admit, they were really not to my liking, but don’t let that stop you from giving them a try!  What do you think of the iron egg?
