It’s a Great Life!

…or somebody’s got to do it!

Here’s Devon and me getting ready to go experience a 2,000 year old bath in northern Tunisia.

I’m turning 50 years old today.  Wow!  50!  It seems old, but I don’t feel old.  It has given me time to think about my life…a little reflection, I guess.  I wouldn’t trade my life with anyone.  I’m so grateful for the decisions I’ve made, the opportunities I’ve taken, the experiences I’ve had.  There’s no way I could categorize my experiences into the “Top 10″ or “the Best Of”.  Do I think I’m lucky? A View of Oman

Oman

We had hired a four wheel drive desert tour while stopping over in Dubai, and I asked the driver to stop while I took this shot. Then I asked him where exactly where we were and he said, “Oman. There really isn’t a border and we just crossed over a couple of minutes ago”. We were pleasantly surprised. We didn’t know that we had crossed over into another country. Oman!

HDR photo-processing lends itself better to certain kinds of photography. I like it for showing people who are working. It seems it adds a texture to the photo that shows how hard-working the subjects are. This photo was taken on a 4WD tour of the desert around Dubai. We were flying through and had a minimum of a 13 hour layover, so we extended it to the full weekend and did a tour. It was tons of fun.

Portrait of a Traveling Daughter

I have taken photos of my daughters all over this world, and this is one of my favorites. Devon just happens to be wearing the pink/maroon combo which looks stunning with the beige wall behind her. I also think the photo works well because it follows the rule-of-thirds twice, and there is action and a story. It was taken in UAE on a bright and comfortable December day.

Four-wheeling through the United Arab Emirates is definitely something everyone should do once in their lifetime.  Here we are mesmerized by this gorgeous wadi somewhere just north of the border of Oman.  What’s something you think everyone should do at least once in their life?
